In 2001, Commonwealth, State and Territory Ministers of vocational education and training adopted national standards for the registration and auditing of training organisations.
The standards are called the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF). The AQTF was endorsed by the Australian National Training Authority Ministerial Council meeting on 8 June 2001. The AQTF replaced the Australian Recognition Framework (ARF). During 2004, the AQTF standards were reviewed as part of a commitment to continual improvement.
