ITC Risk Management and Security Training
“ia|PTS” - Information Assurance|Pen Testing Specialist.
Potential students...This is a true Bootcamp event.
Course details.
Information assurance (IA) is the practice of managing information-related risks. More specifically, IA practitioners seek to protect and defend information and information systems by ensuring confidentiality, integrity, authentication, availability, and non-repudiation.
These goals are relevant whether the information are in storage, processing, or transit, and whether threatened by malice or accident. In other words, IA is the process of ensuring that authorized users have access to authorized information at the authorized time.
A penetration test is a method of evaluating the security of a computer system or network by simulating an attack from a malicious source, known as a Black Hat Hacker, or Cracker. The process involves an active analysis of the system for any potential vulnerabilities that may result from poor or improper system configuration, known and/or unknown hardware or software flaws, or operational weaknesses in process or technical countermeasures.
This analysis is carried out from the position of a potential attacker, and can involve active exploitation of security vulnerabilities. Any security issues that are found will be presented to the system owner together with an assessment of their impact and often with a proposal for mitigation or a technical solution. The intent of a penetration test is to determine feasibility of an attack and the amount of business impact of a successful exploit, if discovered. It is a component of a full security audit.
Aims
The aim of this course is to prepare students for real life digital and physical security practices. Using the right tools for the right job and how malicious attacks are simple if the right precautions aren’t taken. Common commercial, freeware and open source tools used for attacks and also for monitoring and prevention of standard “script kiddie” attacks. Real hands on approach from building your own attack platform to writing reports for clients and employers.
